Wow, that was a long break! Oh, how I have missed writing and connecting with my readers. This blog and you all mean the world to me!

We decided, right around the time of my last blog post in March, that we were going to put our home on the market. It was quite the experience. I learned so much about what it takes to sell a home as well as my own limits throughout the process.

We were extremely fortunate and our home sold very quickly, but it wasn’t easy by any means. We had loads of improvements, cleaning, de-cluttering, more cleaning, de-cluttering and staging in order to show our home. I think it looked the best it ever had! Of course, that is how it goes. With two little kiddos, there is no way I could maintain a pristine home for long. I would go even more crazy than I already do! 😉

As many of you know, my husband travels about 2/3 of the year – so my plate got extremely full. Quite honestly, selling our home was one of the most challenging and stressful times in my life. On the flip side, it was one of the most rewarding as well. With our goal in mind, we stayed focused and didn’t stop until it was sold.

We sold our home in 2 days with 5 offers on the table! Talk about grateful. While I loved our home, and will miss it terribly, I don’t think we ever thought we would sell under those circumstances. It is an older home, and not the necessarily the best floor plan, although it worked well for me. Timing is everything and this was definitely Divinely timed! My heart was full and my body weary…

I tackled all of this right in the midst of my healing journey, which was tough on me. I pushed myself much harder than I should have and I made less and less space for me; for self-care. One of the things I knew I had to do was to curb the writing for a bit. I love to write. It is good for my soul. But my nights were already full with painting and home fix ups after the kids went down and I knew I had to give somewhere. That was my small act of self-care.

I have been easing back into life and have been making more space for me. I am doing more regular workouts and got back on the golf course, something I really love when I can do it. I am back in the kitchen as well, and can’t wait to share some of the things I have been making.

So there is my quick update! More to come in the next few weeks and months, including a review I can’t wait to share (in fact it is a few months overdue). When life get’s full and you are tackling something like a major life transition, I have learned:

  • Ease up.
  • Do what you can that day and let go of the rest.
  • Still hold that sacred space for yourself each day for self-care, in any form.
  • Breathe, breathe, breathe and breathe some more.
  • Get to bed at a decent time.
  • Push deadlines back if you can.
  • You are the most important thing for your family. Take care of you and everything else will work out for the better.

Well old friend, it’s been an amazing 10 years! I became a wife and a mother in this home. This is the place my boys first knew as home. So much joy and laughter, and even tears and tough times. All of it so, so good. I will always love this home!
